“Meatloaf (I’ll Do Anything for Love) Syndrome” – Lord, I want to… Grow, be closer to You, be more effective for You, see Your power flow through our church in miraculous ways…

AS LONG AS…

Jesus’ input: Mark 10.17

He’s looking for “something more.” (Psalm 42:1-4)

Jesus asks…”So, how is religion working for you?” (Mark 10:19)

Response: “I’ve tried religion and it isn’t enough!” (Mark 10:20)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Jesus loved this guy! (Mark 10:21)

Mark 10:21-28: Was money this guy’s problem?  Yes and no.

Peter gets it: In order for us to have all God wants for us, we may be asked to give up “what is in the way.”

It is sometimes something sinful, but it is often something that isn’t sinful of itself, but stands “in the way.”

It’s the Person, Place, or Thing that is holding us back, and God wants us to give it up because He loved us. (Luke 14:25-27, 33)

The “Trade Guarantee” Statement: Mark 10:28-31

Punchline: “what is your “Meatloaf Syndrome” issue–what do you need to surrender?
